We are seeking a ticketed Instrumentation Technician with expertise in specifying, installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial instrumentation. Experience in the water and wastewater industry is highly desirable. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to estimate, plan, and manage projects while working closely with our engineering and automation teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of KJ Controls' new instrumentation department.
- Specify, install, commission, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, analyzers, and control devices.
- Work with clients in the water/wastewater, forestry, energy, and industrial sectors to develop tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate instrumentation into industrial control systems.
- Provide technical expertise on project planning, system design, and implementation.
- Estimate project costs and contribute to proposal development.
- Oversee instrumentation-related fieldwork, testing, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities for instrumentation services.
Qualifications:
- Certified Instrumentation Technician (Journeyman or Red Seal preferred).
- Extensive experience in industrial instrumentation, including process control,, monitoring, and automation systems.
- Strong background in water and wastewater treatment industry instrumentation (preferred but not required).
- Experience working with PLC/DCS integration and automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience in project estimating, quoting, and management.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in building a department.
- Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience with instrument calibration and maintenance best practices.
- Knowledge of CSA, UL, and ETL certification requirements.
